Finny’s story is a story full of great grief…a very unhappy dog named Finny has been living in the shelter for 8 years. One might ask why she is the unhappiest dog. The shelter is a home for thousands of unhappy souls, just like her. Still, many of them somehow fit in at the shelter, adapted themselves. Finny did not manage to get used to such life. She is still living in a great fear day by day. All our efforts just caused simple mechanical acts for Finny: people come, take her to the dog run, make her go two circles around the shelter’s perimeter, take her back to the cage and that’s it. That’s the whole routine.
Finny is the only dog we are taking care of who never meets people when they come. Each and every dog meets and welcomes volunteers – some of them bark loudly, others wag their tails, some dogs just sit silently looking out the cage, even the most cowardly dogs come out of their booth just for a moment “to say hi” and immediately hide away. All of them do that, except of Finny. You will never ever see her, as if she never existed.
When looking for a furry friend in the shelter, please look into Finny’s eyes. You will not see a slightest shadow of hope there. You will only see a plead for help. Still Finny is a very nice girl and she wants to live so much! She wants to live with dignity next to people, and only a person will manage to break this horrible circle of grief and loneliness.
Our Finny is a very special girl and she needs a special family. She needs a quiet, calm home with no small children or dominant dogs; a home full of sympathy to someone’s pain; a place where nobody will seek for Finny’s love hoping that she may heal people of loneliness and depression. Finny’s soul died the day her owner brought her to the shelter and left there. But if you find a place in your heart for this girl your life will be full of light and kindness, there is no doubt in that.
